About the Nashville Buddhist Festival
The mission of the Nashville Buddhist Festival is to provide entertaining and educational events for the purposes of:
- Fostering understanding and communication between Buddhists in the Nashville area, and
- Introducing newcomers to the width and depth of Buddhist practice and dharma study available in the area.
When Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha, attained enlightenment, he penetrated the deepest riddles of existence and the knotty problems that cause suffering for all beings. He then gave teachings to others who wanted to find the same freedom. As Buddhism spread from India throughout Asia in the course of over 2500 years, various techniques flourished in different areas, but with the same base. Now the teachings have come to the west, and for the first time in history all the methods are practiced in one place.
The Nashville Buddhist Festival gives participants the opportunity to experience methods and meet practitioners from all the major traditions of Buddhism. Buddhism in Nashville is diverse yet compatible. Each year we unite together to offer this festival to the community. To learn more about participating centers, click here.
The Nashville Buddhist Festival is administered by a board of volunteers made up of members from the varying traditions of Buddhist practice in Nashville.
